OBITUARY

BRAITHWAITE, William. Died Sunday afternoon at 6:35 o'clock at his home, No. 1408 Farnam street, aged 90 years.

On Feb. 29, 1836, he was married to Elizabeth Barraclough, of Springfield, Yorkshire England. He came to America with his family, landing in New York July 24, 1852. From there he came to Davenport in April 1856 and this city has been his home ever since. At the time of his death Mr. Braithwaite was living in the home he built on a lot purchased from Antoine LeClaire in 1857, where since his retirement from business, he has had the unremitting care of his daughters, Misses Sarah and Jennie Braithwaite, he having lost his wife in March 8, 1882.

Mr. Braithwaite was a member of Davenport lodge No. 37, A.F. A.M., which organization will furnish the pallbearers for the funeral, the arrangements for which will be announced later.
