Lottie Gertrude Godfrey was the daughter of James and Mary Elizabeth Cowell. She married John Oliver Deming November 29,1893. He was born October 15,1865 and died September 18,1944 of a cerebral Hemorraghe. Lottie was found in the Courthouse death records as follows;Book 5, page D-13

Died October 26,1973, widowed, age 94. Died at Park View Nursing Home. Father-James J. Godfrey (spelled Godgrey in book) and mother- "Unknown" Cowell (spelled Crowell in book). Informant was Myrtle Martin. Cause of death-General Arteriosclerosis. Buried in Cedar Cemetery, Sac County, Iowa.Obits for both as follows;

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR OLIVER DEMING ARE HELD WED.Funeral services for Oliver John Deming who passed away Monday morning were held from the Presbyterian Church in Lytton on Wednesday afternoon of this week with Rev. J. Middents in charge.
Oliver John, son of John James Deming and Mary Ann Hendricks, was born in Day, New York on October 15,1865. At the age of two he moved with his parents to the County of DeKalb, Illinois. He lived the greater part of his life near Shabonaand Paw Paw, Ill. He moved to a farm just north of Lytton in the year 1914. He lived on this farm for two years then bought a farm north of Sac City where he lived for two years. In the spring of 1918 he moved back to a farm close to Lytton where he made his home for the next twenty-five years. Realizing that his health was not so good, he moved to the town of Lytton, Iowa in the Spring of 1943. The following fall he was stricken with a cerebral hemorrage from which he nver completely recoved. On Tuesday evening of last week he was again stricken and from this stroke he never regained consciousness. He passed to his eternal rest at 1;30 a.m. Monday morning, September 18.
On NOvember 25,1893 he married Lottie Gertrude Godfrey of Earlville, Illinois. To this union was born two daughters, Florence and Myrtle. He is survived by his widow and two daughters, Mrs. Robert Galbraith of Sac City and Mrs. Chas Campbell of Lytton. Ten grandchildren, Mrs. Arlene Rosdail, Gerold, Merle, LeRoy, Ruth Ellen and Jimmie Galbraith; Harold, Robert, Donita and Nelda Campbell; two brothers, Geo. S. of Long Beach, CA and Elisha T. of Aurora, Illinois and two sisters, Mrs. Geo. Halloran and Mrs. Park Overton both of DeKalb, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, three half brothers and one half sister.

LOTTIE DEMINGFuneral services for 94 year old, Lottie G. Deming were held at the Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City at 2 p.m. Monday, October 29, Rev. F. David Throop officiated the service.
Lottie Gertrude Deming was born June 8,1879 at Earlville, Illinois. She died in Sac City, IOwa on October 26,1973.
Mrs. Deming was married to Oliver Deming and remained in Illinois until both moved to Iowa in 1914. They farmed in the Lytton vicinity until moving into Lytton in 1943.
Mr. Deming died in 1944. Mrs. Deming continued to make her home in Lytton until entering Park View Manor at Sac City in 1968.
She is survived by one daughter, Myrtle, Mrs. R.W. Martin of Fort Dodge; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Several brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Also a daughter, Florence Galbraith.
Burial was in Cedar Cemetery near Lytton.
