Laurie Reik
February 27, 1952 - November 28, 2022

Laurie Reik, age 70 of Odebolt, IA, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2022, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA, surrounded by her family. Laurie Ann Lundblad was born on February 27, 1952, to parents Lloyd and Ruby (Oldnettle) Lundblad in Carroll, IA. She grew up in Odebolt with her family where she attended school. Laurie graduated in 1970 from Odebolt-Arthur High School. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Odebolt.

Laurie attended nursing school first in Sioux City, IA, and finished obtaining her LPN degree in Harlan, IA. She worked at a doctor’s office in Ida Grove, IA, before being employed at Odebolt Nursing and Rehab.

On December 21, 1987, Laurie married Darwin Reik in Sac City. They were blessed with two sons, Clay and Quinn. Together they raised their family in Odebolt where the boys both attended school. Laurie loved anything and everything that had to do with her children. She attended all of their sporting events and other activities. Her family was her world and they would tell you she always put them before herself. She had such a generous, caring heart that loved fiercely. Eight years ago she became a Grandma after little Slater was born which brought her immense joy. After Slater came Nayvee, then Dash, and most recently, Radlee. She adored these kiddos and loved getting to spoil and spend time with them.

Outside of spending time with her family, Laurie loved going out and about with her friends. Whether it be shopping, or just out for a drink and conversation, she always had fun. Her favorite TV show was Days of Our Lives and she rarely, if ever, missed an episode. She played golf in high school and continued playing the sport into adulthood. Laurie also played on a women’s bowling league team for several years. She liked to cook and was great about having delicious home cooked meals on the table for Darwin and the boys. She loved the role of wife and mother. Darwin and the boys loved her deeply, and will ALWAYS love her for her nurturing, caring and loving ways.

Laurie will be missed so much by all who knew and loved her. She has gained her wings and is now pain free. Her health issues are no more. May she rest in eternal peace in God’s loving arms.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Darwin Reik of Odebolt, IA; sons Clay Reik of Odebolt, IA, and Quinn (Makenzee) Reik of Arthur, IA; grandchildren Slater, Nayvee, Dash, and Radlee Reik all of Arthur, IA; sisters Diane Bender of Virginia and Julie Gustafson of Illinois; many extended family members and friends.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Ruby Lundblad; and brother-in-law Jim Bender.
