LAKE VIEW, Iowa — Arthur Alfred Christiansen, 88, of Lake View died Sunday, April 9, 2000, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Odebolt, Iowa.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Lake View, with the Rev. Marcia F. Sangel officiating. Burial will be in Odebolt Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. and a Order of the Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m. at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Odebolt.

Mr. Christiansen was born July 21, 1911, in Sac County, Iowa, the son of Alfred and Ida (Halboth)
Christiansen. He was raised and educated in the Odebolt area. He worked as a typesetter with The Sioux City Journal during the war years.

He married Elsie Lucille Bennett on Sept. 25, 1943, in Sioux City. They made their home near Arthur, Iowa, where he farmed for many years. They retired to Lake View in 1974. His wife died in the same automobile accident on April 9, 2000.

He belonged to United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed refinishing furniture, making wines and bowling.

Survivors include two sons, Allan and his wife, Catherine of Glenwood, Iowa, and Marvin of Davenport, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Sara Jane and Dennis Taylor of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Mark and Amy Christiansen and Theodore "Ted" Alexander and Leslie Taylor; a great-granddaughter; two brothers and their wives, Howard and Elma Jean of Gooding, Idaho, and Lawrence and Connie of Aberdeen, Wash.; three sisters, Frances Johnson of Spicer, Minn., Dorothy and her husband, Forrest Balcombe of Cosmopolis, Wash., and Joyce Bengtson of Tempe, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, Glen, Floyd, Leonard, Clarence, Alfred and Julius; and two sisters; Irene Klock and Annabelle in infancy.
