Christie Baker Succumbs Saturday

Funeral services for Christie Lynn Baker, 15, of Odebolt, were held at the United Methodist Church in Odebolt at 10:30 Tuesday morning, April 27. Christie, who has been hospitalized since December 30, had returned home from St. Mary’s hospital in Rochester, Minn. Friday and died at her home in Odebolt Saturday.

The Rev. Thomas Woodin officiated at the service. Vocal music was provided by the church choir and congregational singing. Mrs. Corinne Down was organist. The flowers were arranged by Mrs. Gerald Gronau, Mrs. Norman Schluter and Mrs. Jerry Iversen.

Honorary attendants were Liz Schwaller, Teresa Bernhardt, Karen Pudenz, Connie Nissen, Deanna Paulson, Jana Iversen, James Woodin, Reed Lindgren, Paul Rydberg, Keith Bernhardt, William Wallace, Jr., and Chuck Schmidtke.

Active attendants were Mike Simon, Leslie Fertig, William Wallace, Sr., Gerald Gronau, Robert Clouse, and James Linnenburger. Burial was in the Odebolt cemetery.

Christie was born December 5, 1960 at Ida Grove, Iowa. She was a freshman in the Odebolt-Arthur Community School District and was on the honor roll. She was a member of Girl Scouts, the Odebolt Assembly of Rainbow for Girls, and the Odebolt United Methodist church.

Survivors include her mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Gritten of Odebolt; her father, John Baker of Ida Grove; three brothers, Barry Baker and Jason and Matthew Gritten at home; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Burley Grove of Holstein, and Mrs. Beatrice Baker of Ida Grove; her step-grandmother Mrs. Grace Edna Gritten of Spencer; her great grandmother, Mrs. Christine Levin of Lake View.

A memorial in the name of Christie Baker has been established at the Odebolt United Methodist church.
