Lila Anderson
Lila Anderson, long-time Odebolt resident, died on October 3, 1992 at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 11 days.
Lila was the firstborn to Margaret and Henry Miller on February 22, 1900 in Sac City, Iowa. She lived most of her childhood in Lytton and Lake View, where her father was a blacksmith. She was one of 12 children.
As a young woman, Lila worked in the telephone office. She married Emil Huebner of Odebolt in 1919, making her home in Odebolt until the time of her death. Two children were born to this marriage: Donald C. Huebner and Dolores Ann Huebner Gunderson. Lila was a homemaker while Emil operated the men’s clothing store in Odebolt called “The Hub.”
In 1939, Lila married Arthur E. Anderson of Holmes, Iowa. Lila continued to be a homemaker while Art worked for the Northwestern Railroad. They continued to make their home in Odebolt.
Preceding her in death were Emil Huebner in 1935, her second husband, Art Anderson, in 1977, her son Donald in 1943, her parents, and all 11 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Donald D. Gunderson of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, her granddaughter Tassia Ann Gunderson of Madison, Wisconsin, two nephews from Sac City, one niece from Ft. Dodge, several great-nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors.
Lila was a long-time member of the Odebolt Presbyterian Church. She also was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Funeral services were held at Farber & Otteman Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. on October 5, 1992 with Rev. Herman Kelly officiating.
Music was provided by soloist Barbara Votrobeck and organist Carol Raasch.
Burial was in the Odebolt Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 1992.
Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Odebolt was in charge of the arrangements.
