ETHEL DOSER

Ethel Mae Bigley Doser, the fourth of 13 children, was born Feb. 26, 1901, to Charles and Mary Brooks Bigley in Omaha, Nebraska. She departed this life Jan. 12, 183 in Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

At a very early age her health began to fail. When she became too frail to walk at age five, her Uncle Alf and Aunt Becky Bigley brought her to their farm near Elk Chapel. They tenderly cared for her and she regained her health. She remained in their home until her marriage.

She received her education at West Elk, Rural School, Kellerton High School and Iowa State Teachers College. She taught school at Kellerton, Ellston, and Jackson Hill.

At an early age she accepted Christ as her Savior and was always a faithful church worker.

On June 1, 1929 she was united in marriage to Emery Doser. To this union four children were born, three of whom survive.

Cherishing her memory are two sons, Paul and wife Mary of Whitesboro, New York; Raymond and wife Dola of Kellerton; a daughter, Esther and husband Eugene McAlexander of Beaconsfield; 14 grandchildren, one great granddaughter; a sister Louise Weber of Omaha, Nebraska; two brothers, Charles Bigley of San Lorenzo, California and Walter Bigley of Spokane Washington; nieces, nephews and many relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery in 1973 and a son William Alfred in 1933.

Funeral services were held at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 1983 at the Kellerton United Methodist Church with Rev. Walter Zarr officiating.

Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Dick Jackson accompanied by Mrs. Weldon Meadows.

Casket bears were Rodney Doser, Earl McAlexander, Eldon McAlexander, Kyle Shaha, Perry Woollums and Rex Jackson. Burial was in Maple Row Cemetery at Kellerton.

This poem was meaningful to family members:

A blessed one from us has gone

A voice we loved is stilled

A place is vacant in our midst

Which never can be filled

God in his wisdom has recalled

The boon his love has given

Altho' the body slumbers here

Her soul now wests in heaven.
