Jon O'NEAL, who suffered a fractured skull in a fall from the trunk of a car last Wednesday, shows a little improvement at this writing. He, Kenneth CLYMER and Larry ENGLAND were riding on the trunk with their feet on the bumper of the car, driven by Donald KINNE. OBITUARY - JON L. O'NEAL

Jon Leonard, son of Leonard and Ruby O'NEAL, was born July 8, 1941, near Tingley, Iowa, and passed away April 8, 1959, in the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, at the age of seventeen years and nine months.

Jon became a member of the Christian church in Tingley on May 15, 1955, and had been a regular attendant at Sunday school all his life.

He was a member of the senior class of the Tingley Public School, where he had received all of his schooling. He was a four-year basketball player, a track man for three years, a baseball player one year, and was a member of the staff of the school paper.

For nine years he was active in Ringgold county 4-H activities as a member of the Tingley Toppers Club.

Jon loved his family, his church, his school, his father's farm, and everyone he knew young and old and in return, was loved by all. He loved life and would hurt no living thing. Life loved him and filled his years with happiness. He loved strength and dignity, and they stood by him to the last as surely as his friends. He loved laughter, truth and tomorrow, and Jon loved God. He will not be forgotten.

In his immediate family Jon is mourned by his father and mother; a brother, Alan; three sisters, Helen, Marian and Anne; an aunt, Veda DAVENPORT, and two brothers-in-law, Donald WEEDA and Tom HOLLAND. He also leaves two nieces and two nephews, Nancy and Patrick WEEDA and Gregory and Jennifer HOLLAND; seven uncles, Lowell, Willard, Rube and Delmar O'NEAL and Emery, Curtis and Vernon DAVENPORT, and a friend, Janetta SALTZMAN.

Funeral services were held April 10, from the Tingley Christian church, conducted by the Rev. F.C. McCALLON and the Rev. Willis GRANT. Organ music was furnished by Mrs. Francis SMITH and vocalists were Mrs. John ENGLAND and Mrs. M.H. OBERMEIER. Casketbearers were Jerry JOBE, Larry ENGLAND, Kenny CLYMER, Melvin RICHARDS, Dick BAKER, and Don KINNE, Jr. Interment was in the Tingley cemetery.
