OBITUARY
Oscar David GARLAND, son of Elizabeth and David GARLAND, was born February 16, 1887, at Knowlton, Iowa. Soon after a fall in his home on December 31, 1965, he departed this life at the age of 78 years, 10 months, and 15 days.

From a family of fifteen, he is survived by one sister and one brother.

Except for the few years he spent as a homesteader near Pierre, South Dakota, he was a lifelong resident of Ringgold county, Iowa.

In 1917, he joined the Methodist Church at Tingley and was faithful in attendance as long as health permitted.

He was united in marriage to Arbie Lelia STANLEY and of this union were born sever children, one of whom died in infance. His wife preceded him in death in 1946.

He was a kind, loving husband and father, lived a full and happy life and always enjoyed his twenty one grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Left to mourn his death are his six children and their families - Stanley of Kansas City, Mo., Truman of Tulsa, Okla., Richard and Dean of Des Moines, and Iola FERGUSON and Berneice FERGUSON of Tingley; a sister, Bessie of Menlo; one brother Arthur of Green Cove Springs, Florida; a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services were held January 2, from the Methodist Church in Tingley, conducted by the Rev. A.R. WEED of Tingley, who was assisted by the Rev. John BRADEN, pastor of the church. Interment was in the Tingley Cemetery.
