September 08, 1935 ~ November 09, 2017Lila was born September 8, 1935 at home in Tingley, IA to her loving parents Glenn and Opal Waddell Keller. She graduated from Shannon City High School and attended Creston Community Junior College in Creston, IA. Lila married Jack Morris Greene on June 6, 1954. She worked for the Department of Human Services as a Homemaker Health Aid One and was then promoted to Social Worker Three becoming Supervisor over Crawford and Sac Counties in Iowa. She received a letter of commendation from the Governor of Iowa recognizing her outstanding commitment to working with the public. After retiring from the Department of Human Services in 1979, Lila began a study of theology through Indiana Wesleyan College and received her Theology degree. She was commissioned, and anointed, in July, 1982 at the Charles City Wesleyan Church in Charles City, IA. Lila, along with her husband Jack, then went into the ministry pastoring various churches in Iowa. In 1995 she and Jack moved to Florida where she pastored several different Wesleyan Churches.
They moved back to Iowa to 2007 and Lila began pastoring the Shannon City Community Church. She served as pastor of that church for 10 ½ years, retiring from the ministry in September of 2017. Lila loved the Lord and loved to tell of His love for everyone. Her light shone bright as she shared her faith with all those whom she came in contact with.
Lila went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 9, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents William and Sara Irene Place Keller, Charles and Bertha Hammond Waddell; parents Glenn and Opal (Waddell) Keller; brothers Donald Keller and wife Alice, Marvin Keller and infant brother Glen Wayne Keller; sisters Jean Campbell, Darlene White and Maxine Franklin; brothers-in-law Harold Crecelius, Willard White and Dick Franklin; nieces and nephews Janet Sue, Scott Keller, Billy Keller, Gene Crecelius, Randy White, Jody Turnbull and Jerry Campbell; granddaughter Lacey Layne Klaahsen; great grandson Jerrad Dale Lorenzen; grandson-in-law Eric Reasland.
Lila leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 63 years, Jack Greene of Creston, IA; children Nicky Greene (wife Denise) of Rock Valley, IA, Danny Greene (wife Debbie) of Storm Lake, IA, Linda Richie (husband Douglass) of Blackburn, MO., Sheri Plough (husband Rusty) of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren Ryan Greene (wife Stacey) of Brandon, SD, Christopher Greene of Dallas, TX, Katie and Samantha Greene of Rock Valley, IA, Stephanie Hanna (husband Douglas) of Milford, IA, Bradley Greene (wife Abbey) of North Liberty, IA, Kyle Greene (wife Jesse) of Alta, IA, Brooke Spencer (husband Travis) of Omaha, NE, Tabitha Reasland, of Creston, IA, Jeremy Lorenzen ( wife Stephanie) of Marshall, MO, Jacquelyn Baker (husband Patrick) of Nelson, MO, Corey Plough (wife Cassy) of Marion, IA, Lindsey Katsiametis (husband Dino) of Mission Viejo, CA, Sidnea Plough (fiancé Danny) of Marion, IA, Derek Plough of Rollinsville, CO; great grandchildren Devan and Jordan Hanna, Ashley and Brayden Greene, Tanner, Izabel, Nolan, and Nash Keller Spencer, Kadin and Adyson Greene, Taya Rose Greene, Ryla Kline, Hope, Jackson, and Lydia Lorenzen, Cameron Hayes, Carter Glenn Reasland, Kylie, Ava, Austin, and Landon Katsiametis, Sawyer and Easton Gerber; sister Doris Crecelius of Bedford, IA; sisters-in-law Leora Keller, Murray, IA and Marilyn Greene of Gallatin, TN; brother-in-law Dale Campbell of Clearfield, IA, Gene Sickels of Mount Ayr, IA, Roland Buck, Mount Ayr, IA, and Dale Greene, Mount Ayr, IA.
A memorial fund has been established for charities of the family choice.
Open viewing will be held at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Friday, November 17 from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the family present Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, IA. Officiating will be Pastor Bill Armstong and the eulogy will be by Pastor Richard Walden.
Prelude Music will by Virginia Walden and special music will be “God Bless The Broken Road”, “Heaven Came Down and Glory Filled my Soul”, “Footsteps”, “Master of the Wind”, “It Is Well, With My Soul”, and “Go Light the World”.
Casketbearers will be Ryan Greene, Christopher Greene, Bradley Greene, Kyle Greene, Jeremy Lorenzen, Corey Phough, and Derek Plough. Honorary Pallbearers will be Katie Greene, Samantha Greene, Stephanie Hanna, Brooke Spencer, Tabitha Reasland, Jacklyn Baker, Lindsey Katsiametis, and Sidnea Phough.
Special song at the graveside will by “Mockingbird Hill” by Larry White.
Lila will be laid to rest at the Oakland Cemetery in Shannon City, Iowa.
