Page 12OBITUARY ~ DONNA LEE (KNAPP) SCOTT
January 27, 1939 ~ May 13, 2016Donna Lee Scott, daughter of Herbert Ryder and Alma (Robertson) Knapp, was born January 27, 1939 in Wisconsin.
The family soon moved to Des Moines, and Donna grew up and lived most of her life on the East side of Des Moines. For the last 15 years, Donna has made Mount Ayr her home.
Donna enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She will be forever remembered for her big heart and kind personality. Donna loved people and she was loved in return. As people came to know her, she became ‘mom’ and ‘grandma’ to them. She loved to garden and tend to her flowers. Her table was always open and she fed all who came to her table. Donna loved going to the Neighborhood Center in Mount Ayr and she loved the people that she met there.
When it came to her health, Donna was a fighter and was very strong. On the afternoon of May 13, 2016, Donna gave up the fight and went to her eternal home. She was preceded in death by her mom and dad; two sons, Terry Joynes and Edward LeRoy Joynes, Jr; and a brother Joel Knapp.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children Rebecca Straight and husband Richard, Susan Joynes and common law husband Dwayne Allen Clark, Gary LeRoy Joynes and common law wife Mary Saville, William Baxter Joynes and wife Betty, John Lee Weesner and fiancé Tammy McAtee, Troy Allen Weesner and wife Crystal; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; siblings Barbara Vance, Kathy Rodriguez, William Knapp, Jim Knapp, and Tim Knapp; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Kellerton Community Center in Kellerton, Iowa, located at the corner of E 5th Ave and S Davis St.
