Bentley, Archibald Maynard (Mac) -
Archibald Maynard (Mac) Bentley, 79, died March 19 at Rosary Hospital in Corning where he had been a patient for two weeks. He had been in failing health since he suffered a stroke in 1961.
Services were at the Larkin-Bender Funeral Home in Lenox on Friday, March 21, 1980, the Rev. W. C. Trembly officiating.
Bernard Routh was the organist. Casket bearers were J. B. Routh, Mervin Walter, Reldon Boltinghouse, William Bentley, Allan Bentley, and Merle Brown. Interment was in the Clearfield Cemetery.
Archibald Maynard Bentley Jr. was born to Archibald and Martha Bell Bentley Oct. 15, 1900 at Clearfield. November 28, 1917 he was united in marriage to Mary E. Wood at Spencer, Iowa. They lived for a while in Clearfield, then moved to Clarinda where Mac was a clerk in a drug store. In 1939, he was employed by O.T.C. Tool Company of Owatohna, Minn., and moved to Charlotte, N. Car. After World War II he was promoted to district manager, with his location at Atlanta, Ga., where he and Mrs. Bentley lived until they came to Lenox in 1968.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Lenox, a sister-in-law, Bernice Bentley of Des Moines, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Grover, two half sisters and three half brothers.
Mr. Bentley was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
