OBITUARY ~ MRS. MATT GEIGER.

Ara Edith, daughter of Clay and Hallie BAKER, was born November 24, 1888, at Martinsville, Mo., and passed away at her home in Delphos on the morning of August 28, 1941, at the age of 57 years, nine months and four days. The past 50 years of her life was spent in this [Delphos] community, having come here with her parents when seven years of age.

On January 1, 1908, she was married to Matt GEIGER, and to them were born three children. Twin daughters, Bernice and Beatrice, died in infancy, and Arlene, Mrs. Doyle REYNOLDS, now residing near New Market, who with her family and the husband of 36 years, are now bereft of the love and care of an ideal wife and mother.

At the early age of 13 years Mrs. GEIGER united with the Christian church and always maintained a true and steadfast faith, exemplifying a Christian life in her every day living. Although of a quiet and unassuming nature, she always stood ready to lend a helping hand or assistance wherever the need night be. Her first consideration always was for the safety and comfort of her loved ones and her home, to which she gave her fullest measure of love and devotion.

The chief pleasure of her life centered around the care of Arlene and her husband Doyle, whom she loved and looked to as an own son, and their five children, Lois, Chloris, Norma Jean and the twins, Larry and Lavaun, who at their early age, will never have the privilege of knowing and remembering the love and care of this most devoted grandmother.

Those who knew Mrs. GEIGER best can truly say her home was permeated with loyal companionship and motherly attributes that will hold many cherished memories for those who entered therein.

Besides her immediate family the deceased is survived by two brothers, Ray BAKER of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, and Claude BAKER of Allerton, Iowa; one sister, Ruby SPENCER of Whitetail, Mont., her nieces Betty BAKER and Carol DAVIES, and one nephew, George BAKER.

NOTE: Ara was interred at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa.
