OBITUARY ~ LENORA MARIE (FREIHAGE) HAIGHT
December 26, 1913 ~ November 02, 2011Lenora HAIGHT, 97, of Urbandale; formerly of Creston and Ellston, died Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Powers Funeral Home junction of highway 25 and 34 in Creston. Pastor Valerie BURGESS will officiate. A lunch at the funeral home will follow the service. Then, burial will be in the Cornwall (Haight) Cemetery north of Ellston. Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 service time Saturday at the Powers Funeral Home.

Lenora Marie HAIGHT, daughter of Marie (EISENHAUER) and Charles FREIHAGE was born December 26, 1913 in Vail, Iowa. She attended school in Crawford County Iowa later graduating from Ellston High School in 1934, and later from Southwestern Community College in Creston in 1963.
Lenora was united in marriage to Truman Charles HAIGHT in June of, 1934 in Blair, Neb. They first lived and farmed near Ellston, and later settled in Creston in 1951. Lenore was an active homemaker and farm wife. In 1981, they moved to Des Moines.
Lenore was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Creston. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and hand work, such as quilts and crochet items. She also enjoyed music and was the pianist for the Order of the Eastern Star in Afton for many years. She enjoyed books and took many correspondence courses in journalism and art from the University of Utah, which added to her college credits. She also enjoyed studying Spanish.
Lenora is survived by her daughter, Janet DuBUC of Waukee, Ia. and her son, Luther (wife Jean) HAIGHT of Urbandale, Ia.; a granddaughter, Kelly A. SMITH of Des Moines, Ia.; two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Breckin SMITH and many nieces and nephews.
Lenora was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Truman HAIGHT, infant son, Carroll Lee HAIGHT; two brothers, Fred and Charles FREIHAGE and two sisters, Loretta BENNETT and Betty DOVER.
