Funeral services were held June 8 for W. M. STATON at the Denver, Mo. Methodist Church. They were conducted by the Rev. Roger DAIVS and the Rev. Steve SHEARER with interment at the Honey Grove Cemetery.
W. M. STATON, son of Wilsie and Alice MAYLAN STATON, was born in Feb. 4, 1913, on a farm near Redding, and passed away on June 8, 1978, at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City after a brief illness.
He was married to Grace SMITH of Mount Ayr, Iowa, on Oct. 10, 1933. To this union was born one son, Dwayne, Allendale, Mo.
The family moved to Grant City, Mo. when he was a young man, and the remainder of his life was spent in Worth County. STATON worked as a receptionist for Dr. P. J. ROSS for several years. Later he farmed and for the last 10 years he was employed at the Grant City Manufacturing Company.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his wife; his son and daughter-in-law; a sister, Ocie LAMB of Clarinda, Iowa; brother-in-law, Glee LAMB, and sister-in-law, Vera SMITH of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren, Teresa WINEMILLER, Saundra STATON, Bill STATON of Cheridan, and Wilsie Jean, Carl and Robert STATON of Allendale; great-granddaughter, Lucretia WINEMILLER and grandson-in-law, Dale WINEMILLER of Sheridan; an aunt, Mrs. Ida HASH, Redding; 11 nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
