OBITUARY ~ CHAD ELDON STARMER

A bright ray of sunshine named Chad Eldon STARMER was born July 20, 1972, at Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa, and went home to his Heavenly Father at the same hospital on November 25, 1986, at the age of 14 years, four months and five days. He was the eldest son of Eldon and Linda STARMER of Tucson, Arizona, formerly of Diagonal, Iowa.

Chad attended Diagonal Community School through his elementary yars, where he endeared himself to all who knew him. He participated fully in all the sports he loved so much. He especially loved basketball and brought home several ribbons from the Elks free throw contest held every year. But Chad's favorite pastime was the hours he spent motorcycle riding. He always love the feel of the wind on his face and was especially happy when his Dad and brother Matthew could ride with him.

During his seventh grade year, Chad moved with his parents and brother, matthew, to Tucson, Arizona. There he attended Fickett Junior High and once again all who knew him, loved him. It was during this time that he received the greatest honor he felt he had ever received, that of being chosen to play on the Sahuara Little League, Jr. Division, All-Star Baseball Team. Chad's favorite position to play was third base. He constantly strived to give his best to the game of baseball and to keep the team spirit up. He always said "never give up till the game is over."

At the time of his passing, Chad was a freshman at Palo Verde High School. Some of his favorite things were working in wood shop and learning drafting. Chad recently acquired a love for tennis, which he played with the same dedication and enthusiasm that he applied to everything in his life. Chad had a multitude of friends who cared very deeply for him. His friends were so important to him and he loved them all so much. He was always quick with that every present special smile of his and would do all in his power to ease anyone's pain. He didn't know the meaing of the word "stranger," because Chad was a friend to all he met.

Most important of all, Chad had a deep and close relationship with his brother, Matthew, whom he loved with all his heart. Some might say that a little brother is a big brother's shadow, but in this case both brothers were shadows, never overstepping each other, just entertwined forever.

Chad also loved the two pets that he shared with his brother, Matthew. He loved to throw the tennis ball for his dog Homer to catch and would always make room on his bed at night so his cat Thomas could sleep with him.

The greatest love of Chad's life was the love he felt for his Heavenly Father. He lived his life to the fullest and will always be an inspiration to all whose lives he touched.

Left to mourn his passing are his loving parents, Eldon and Linda STARMER and brother, Matthew, of Tucson, Arizona; his grandparents Elmer and Verna STARMER and Bill and Viola BOHN, all of Diagonal, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Tribute to Our Son and Brother

without you by our side;

you've filled our hearts with pride.

The fourteen years you gave us,
seems like such a very short time,
But you remain forever
in our thoughts, our hearts, our minds.

We'll miss your every present smile,
Your thoughtful loving ways,
We'll miss your footsteps in the hall,
and the hugs you always gave.

Let the lessons that you taught us,
Remain upon our minds,
So that in our time of sorrow,
it gives us peace of mind.

We'll see you in the rainbows,
we'll fell you in the wind;
And this mus now sustain us,
Until we see you again.

Don't you know we're better people,
for having known your love,
And now we turn your over to
your Heavenly Father above.

Funeral services were held November 28, 1986, from the Diagonal High School Gymnasium at Diagonal, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Eydie DEAL. Music was provided by Mrs. Harold TAYLOR, Mrs. Jack TAYLOR and Mrs. Richard TAYLOR.

Casketbearers were Jim GOINS, Billy BENTLEY, Richard COOPER, Duane DOLECHECK, R. B. DAVENPORT and Chris RICHARDSON. Burial was in the Diagonal Cemetery at Diagonal, Iowa.
