OBITUARY ~ JAMES O. STANLEY

James Oral STANLEY, second child of Della TEDROW STANLEY and Herbert STANLEY, was born October 17, 1909, and passed away October 14, 1980 at his home in Mount Ayr where he had lived since December 1975.

As a youth he attended the Salem school south of Kellerton and graduated with the class of 1930 from the Mount Ayr High School.

On January 2, 1934 James was united in marriage to Arlene LAIRD. To this union was born one child, a daughter, Jannie Ilene TULL. James and Arlene lived in Liberty Township most of his farming years until they moved into town. While on the farm he sold Acco Seed corn for many years and also had a farm shop where he did welding and saw sharpening.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gladys and Baby Dolly; a brother, Earl, and two grandsons, Little Willie and John David TULL.

Along with his devoted wife Arlene he leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Ilene TULL and son-in-law, Charles; their sons, Ivan, Jay and Paul, granddaughter-in-law and great-grandchildren Angie, Anthony and Amanda; sister, Bessie JOHNSON and husband Wayne JOHNSON; sister-in-law, Hazel STANLEY; nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.

James was a devoted husband and father. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held October 17, from the Rhoades-Wilson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, with the Rev. Walter ZARR officiating. Music was by Arlen HUGHES, accompanied by Organist Mike GREENE. Casketbearers were Rex SHAHA, Lee FARIS, Lyle FARIS, Dale BLACK, Marvin MAIN and Darrel DAVENPORT. Interment was in Maple Row Cemetery at Kellerton.
