OBITUARY ~ MARY BOYD SPEELMAN

Mary BOYD SPEELMAN, 77, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, formerly of Creston, died July 15, 1986 in an Albuquerque convalescent home. She was born Sept. 27, 1908 in Grand River, Iowa, the daughter of Curtis and Susie SEAR BOYD.

On Oct. 14, 1929 she was married to Cameron "Kerney" SPEELMAN. He died in 1980. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Merle DORN of Grand River; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Robert and Norris, and an infant daughter.

Mary was reared in Grand River and attended Simpson College, Indianola. After marriage she and her husband farmed near Beaconsfield, Iowa until 1966, when they retired an moved to Creston. She lived in Creston until 1982, then went to Kansas City, Missouri and lived there until moving to Albuquqerque in the fall of 1985. She was a homemaker and was affliated with the Beaconsfield United Methodist Church.

Graveside services were held t 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at the Grand River, Iowa, cemetery, conducted by Rev. Richard SPEIGHT of the Leon United Methodist church.

Memorial gifts will go toward the nursing scholarship fund at Southwestern Community College in Creston. They may be left at Keating-Lindsay Funeral Home in Creston or at the financial aid director's ofice at Southwestern.
