OBITUARY ~ JOHN KERMIT "CHICK" SAVILLE

John Kermit SAVILLE, son of John Silas SAVILLE and Carrie Florence OLIVER, was born March 23, 1910 at Redding in Ringgold County and passed away in his home Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1982.

"Chick", as he was lovingly known, lived his entire life in Redding where he owned and operated Chick's Repair. He was a member of the Redding United Methodsit Church and served his community as a councilman, then mayor for several years.

He married Melba Lorine KNAPP on Feb. 9, 1944 in Troy, Kan. Two sons were born to this union. Kermit was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Emerson and Howard.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, and children: Shirley (Mrs. H. Don SMITH) of Grinnell; Raymond of Natchitoches, La.; Marlene (Mrs. Jack GROSS) of Glenwood; Bill of St. Paul, Minn.; and Dixie (Mrs. Wilbur VanRYSWYK) of Taintor; two daughters-in-law, Debby and Julie; three sons-in-law, Don, Jack and Wilbur, and 12 grandchildren; also two brothers, Wilbur and Cecil of Mount Ayr, and three sisters, Jessie (Mrs. Loren TRULLINGER) of Mount Ayr, Ola (Mrs. Lloyd RIDGE) of Blockton, and Vera Alice (Mrs. Lyle BUSS) of Red Oak,and a host of other friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 15, 1982 at the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr. Rev. Lynn POTTER conducted it, with the assistance of Bill SAVILLE, son of the deceased. Music was provided by organist Bernice LYNCH, with Bill SAVILLE as vocalist.

Casketbearers were Jack BAILEY, Tom KELLY, Tyler KNAPP, Jim LLEWELLYN, Algie SAVILLE and Bob WILT. Interment was in the Redding cemetery.
