Lovitt, Elmira Markley –
Mrs. John Lovitt died at her home in Clearfield at about 2:30 on Saturday Nov. 5th. She had been in failing health for over a year, and her condition became serious at least two months since. While not unexpected therefore, her death comes as a chock to many friends who mourn the departure of this good woman.

Elmira Markley was born in Henry County, Illinois August 28th, 1867 and died at her home in Clearfield, Iowa, Sept. 6th, 1919. She came with her parents to Taylor County Iowa in 1874. She became the wife of John Lovitt in December 1876. To this union were born four children, Estella Mae Burns, Walter Lovitt, Sarah Ann Thompson and Hellene Maurine Lovitt.

She is survived by all with the exception of Estella Mae, who passed away to the better world some fifteen yean ago, committing to Mrs. Lovitt the case of her daughter, Lillian Louisa Burns, who made her home with the grandmother for six years. Besides these relatives, she leaves to mourn her loss three brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Lovitt united with the Baptist church early in life. About 20 years ago she united with the Methodist Episcopal. church of Clearfield, Iowa, of which church she has continued a member till her passing to the better world.

She was a devoted wife and mother, always considerate more for the welfare of others than for herself.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church on Monday at 2 o'clock. Her pastor, C. A. Carlson, conducted the service, assisted by
Pastor J. W. Johnson of the Christian Church. A largo number of friends assembled to pay their last respects to the dead. The floral offerings were profuse and very beautiful. Interment was in Clearfield Cemetery.
