Black, Charles Leon –
Charles Leon Black passed away suddenly at his home in Creston, la., Monday afternoon, March 8, 1954 at the age of 66 years, 9 months, 1 day. He was the son of Alsiness and Lucy Black and was born at Worth, Mo., June 9, 1887.

Charles came to Clearfield in 1920 and was a rural mail carrier serving the community for 26 years. On account of poor health he retired in 1944. He served two years in the first World War and was a member of the American Legion.

He was united in marriage to Cora Ellis in 1914 and to this union n one son was born. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters-in-law.

In 1939 he was united in marriage to Kathryn Bernice McMath of Clearfield, who survives along with a son Dale and his wife Louene and two grandchildren Vickie and Ronnie as well nephew and nieces.

The deceased has made Creston his home for the past eight years. In earlier years he attended and took part in the activities of the church. He was kind and a loving husband as well as father, and was considerate of everyone. He was never too tired to lend a helping hand in time of need. And he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held in the United Presbyterian church in Clearfield March 10 interment in Clearfield cemetery.
