Huffman, Herbert T. “Bert” -
Herbert T. Huffman, younger of two sons of Obadiah and Sarah Rider Huffman, was born Feb. 19, 1871 in Ringgold County la., near Maloy, and departed this life Sept. 11. 1953 in the Deaconess Hospital, Spokane, Wash., aged 82 years, 6 months and 22 days.

He attended the rural school near Maloy and grew to manhood at the place of his birth. Being interested in agriculture he chose farming as his life work.

On Oct. 27, 1892 he was united in marriage to Lena D. Beamer at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Zed Beamer, south of Clearfield and located on a farm near there.

To this union they were blessed with five children, three sons Floyde E. who passed away October 22, 1932; Merle of Benton, Zed of Clearfield; and two daughters, Bernice Wasson and Edith Huffman of Spokane, Wash.

Mr. and Mrs. Huffman moved to Clearfield in 1920. In 1950 they moved to Spokane to be near their daughters.

He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America Lodge. To cherish his memory besides his faithful wife, two sons and two daughters are six grandchildren: Frieda Holliday of Nampa, Idaho; Lucille Dockstader, Maxine Buell, Cleorie Cronkhite of Des Moines; McEllyn Huffman of Handle, Wash.; Erwood Huffman of Clearfield; also 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Floyde, and brother, Friend Huffman.

Mr. Huffman was of a cheery disposition, and made many friends. He was always ready to give aid to those in need, and assist in helping religiously and in civic affairs. As one has said of him, you had a strong, united home, which is a standard of the highest type of citizenship. He was devoted to his home and family. It was a source of great joy that Mr. and Mrs. Huffman could celebrate both
their 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries in 1942 and 1952. He will be missed by those who knew him best.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 16 from the Methodist church in Clearfield. Burial was in the Clearfield cemetery.
