Kellerton, Iowa girl, 8, killed in ATV accident

AP -- An 8-year-old Iowa girl has died in an all-terrain vehicle accident.

Ringgold County Sheriff Mark DAVISON says Charlcey Ann BOWEN died Thursday evening after the crash that happened in a rural area outside Kellerton.

DAVISON says the Kellerton girl had been driving a John Deere Gator ATV at the time of the crash. The vehicle hit a pile of gravel and overturned.

BOWEN was ejected from the vehicle in the crash.

May 13, 2003 ~ May 26, 2011

Charlcey Ann BOWEN was born May 13, 2003 in Des Moines, Iowa to Judd & Christina (SHIELDS) BOWEN. Charlcey was welcomed home by big brother Trevor and two years later, she welcomed little sister Macey Kay, home.

She passed away May 26, 2011. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents Jim & Ruby BOWEN, Eldon PINKERTON, Art STEINMAN, Charles Junior SHIELDS, and Bob & Kathleen SEFRIT.

Those who will forever cherish her memory include her parents Judd & Christina BOWEN of Kellerton; her 13-year-old brother Trevor GOODING and six-year-old sister Macey Kay BOWEN; grandparents Barton & Barbara SHIELDS of Mount Ayr and Larry & Sharon BOWEN of Benton; great-grandmothers Mabel SHIELDS and June STEINMAN, both of Mount Ayr; uncle Josh & Christi SHIELDS, cousins Allie, Kelcie, MacKenzie, and Kaylie SHIELDS; aunt Lanette SHIELDS; uncle Eric & Carrie BOWEN, cousins Abby & Carter BOWEN; uncle Austin BOWEN; a large and loving extended family and many, many friends.

A memorial fund will be established in her name to be decided later.

Funeral Services held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 10:30 AM, Mt Ayr High School Gym, Mount Ayr

Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr in charge of arrangements.
