Irvin, Winnie Addie Belle Smith -
Winnie Addie Belle Smith, daughter of John and Annie Smith, was born August 18, 1875 and departed this life November 28, 1942 at the University hospital in Iowa City at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 10 days.

She spent her early life in Ringgold county, Iowa. When she was quite young, her father went West and never returned. Later her mother was married to Scott Lee. They lived several years in Parnell, Missouri where she attended high school.

She united in membership with the Methodist Church in Parnell, Mo. in early girlhood, later transferring her membership to the Baptist church in Athlestan. Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Egbert Elias Eugene Irvin on November 1, 1896 at Athelstan where they spent the most of their married life. To this union were born eight children.

Mrs. Irvin is survived by her husband and seven children: Harold Franklin, Sheridan, Mo., Vera Mable Smith, Athelstan, Mo., Annie Fern Brumfield, Sheridan, Mo., Pvt. Guy Egbert, who is somewhere in England, Robert Loren, Blockton, Pvt. Elmer Orin, Camp Crowder, Mo., and Zola May Maness, Athlestan, Ia.

She also leaves ten grandchildren, one half-sister, Bertha White and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Edith Edna, who died at 6 years of age, and a half sister Jennie Oneil.

She was a kind and loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 1, at the Athelstan Community church, by Rev. E. B. Stewart, Methodist pastor at Blockton. Burial was in the Athelstan cemetery.
