OBITUARY - NAOMI (SCOTT) BRYANT
September 5, 1914 ~ March 16, 2011Naomi BRYANT, daughter of Kenneth Burl (K.B.) and Ethel (ONSTOT) SCOTT, was born September 5, 1914 on the family farm west of Beaconsfield, Iowa. Naomi would live on this farm, which would become a family Century Farm, for nearly all of her life.
Naomi was in the first class to graduate from the new Beaconsfield High School building. On May 3, 1933, she was united in marriage to Howard BRYANT at the Parsonage in Creston, Iowa. To this union was born three children; Billy Howard, Bobby Wayne, and Beth Elaine.
Naomi was a farm wife in every sense of the word. She worked alongside Howard and even had her own tractor that she drove. Naomi was a 4-H leader and basketball chaperon. Naomi was an active member of the 22 Club in Beaconsfield. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting. Naomi moved off the family farm in 2000 and lived in Mount Ayr.
She became a resident of the Mount Ayr Health Care Center and passed away on March 16, 2011 at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents K.B. & Ethel SCOTT; husband Howard BRYANT on November 14, 2000; grandson Douglas Wayne; great-grandchild Bailey BRYANT; and her sister Alice WHITSON.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children Billy BRYANT & wife Kathy of West Des Moines, Iowa, Bobby BRYANT & wife Rae of Glen Rock, Wyoming, Beth Elaine BRYANT of Arvada, Colorado; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
A memorial fund has been established to the Beaconsfield United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr, Iowa. Interment was made at Grand River Cemetery, Grand River, Iowa.
Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr was in charge of arrangements.
