OBITUARY - DARLENE MARIE (BREEDEN) BEAVERS
May 17, 1928 - August 12, 2010Darlene Marie BEAVERS passed from this life on August 12, 2010 at Mt Ayr Health Care Center in Mt Ayr, Iowa. Darlene was born May 17, 1928 to Cecil and Bessie Marie (McDIVITT) BREEDEN. Darlene was 1 of 9 living children. She was raised and lived most of her life in Urbandale, IA.
Darlene married Rex BEAVERS, Sr. of Leon Iowa. To this union 4 children were born; Rex Dean BEAVERS, Jr. (Mimi) of Rimrock AZ, Kathie Marie DALRYMPLE of Grimes, IA, Cynthia Sue DUGAN (Eddie) of Mt Ayr, Jodene Lynn KELLEY (Todd) of Oakland, Maryland. They later divorced but both remained in the Urbandale area.
Darlene attended Urbandale High School. Darlene was a hard worker. She worked at many jobs outside of being a homemaker. She worked for Brooks Bindery, Parker Brothers Games, and at Colonial Bakery retiring from there after 30 plus years of service. She then moved to Phoenix, AZ to be close to her son and family. Darlene returned to Urbandale to live in 2006 with her daughter Kathie. Darlene enjoyed many things: she loved traveling, football, bowling, horse racing, gardening, playing cards with the family, spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Darlene is survived by her sister Edna (Harold) JACOBS of Urbandale, IA; longtime friend and companion Robert KING of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren Rex BEAVERS, III of Rimrock, AZ, Christian BEAVERS of Phoenix, AZ, Brenda McGRIFF (Todd) of Peoria, AZ, Stuart DALRYMPLE (Sue Ann) and Tiffany DALRYMPLE of Ankeny, IA, Richard SHELLEY (Emily) of Indianola, IA, Jeremy (Audrey) SHELLEY and Matthew SHELLEY of Mt. Ayr, IA, Michael SHAFFER, Jr. and Joseph SHAFFER of Oakland, MD, Chris DUGAN (Jessica) of Afton, IA and Darryn (Dodie) DUGAN of Knoxville, IA.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters. Darlene will be missed by her family, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Memorials are to the family to be decided later.
Graveside services held Monday, August 16 at 11:00 a.m. at McDivitt Grove Cemetery, Urbandale, Iowa, followed by a celebration of Darlene's life at American Legion Hall, Urbandale. Wilson-Armstrong Funeral Home of Mount Ayr, Iowa in charge of arrangements.
