OBITUARY - CHARLES WESLEY "CHUCK" BENNETT

Charles Wesley BENNETT was born August 24, 1959, to Robert M. and Wanda Fern JONES BENNETT of Mount Ayr and departed this life August 13, 1987, as a result of an automobile accident in Riverside, California.

Chuck, as he lovingly was called, graduated from Mount Ayr Community School in 1977. For approximately six years he farmed with his parents and grandparents. In 1984 he graduated from Southwestern Community College with an associate degree in electrical trades. Chuck then went to California where he secured work with Superior Electrical Contractors of San Bernadino, California. He was still working for this firm at the time of his death and earned the position of crew chief with several men under his supervision.

Mr. John RAMSEY, owner of Superior Electrical, has informed the family they are going to close for the one day, August 24, Chuck's birthday, and hold a memorial service in California. Also a memorial has been established by the company that on July 4 of each year henceforth, at the company's annual meeting and picnic, a certificate of excellence will be presented to one employee in memory of Chuck.

His early childhood centered around the activities at Wishard Chapel United Methodist church. This upbringing was a strong influence in molding Chuck's life. He was a friend to all, who enjoyed life. He was especially fond of swimming and skiing, as well as many other outdoor sports. He worked hard and he played hard. Each day was a new adventure and he shared this spirit.

He leaves to mourn, his parents; two sisters, Cyndi Fern (husband Steve) SOBOTKA and their sons, Mike and Bob, Rhonda Fern BENNET; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Dora BENNETT; his maternal grandparents, Wesley and Pearl JONES; also aunts, uncles and cousins. He was loved by many.

Funeral services were held August 19, 1987, from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Jack KENDALL. Music was provided by Mrs. Francis SMITH, Mrs. Gary BICKERS and Mrs. Roger TRULLINGER.

Casketbearers were Mike FORD, Roger MAIN, David WEEDA, Danny WEEDA, Doug CAMPBELL and Steve ENGLAND. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
