OBITUARY - OLIVE (RUSH) BALLEW

Olive BALLEW was born south of Mount Ayr in Middle Fork Township on May 20, 1891 to Syrastus and Margaret RUSH. She passed away at Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa on May 25, 1987.

Olive attended rural schools in Ringgold County and [Simpson] college at Indianola, Iowa. She married Thomas BALLEW and to this union one daughter was born. After living in Ellston, Des Moines, Cedar Rapids and Boone, Tommie and Olive moved to Kellerton in 1950. Tommie passed away in 1973 and Olive lived in Kellerton until she moved to Wolf Point, Montana and resided there for two years. She then moved back to Mount Ayr and lived at the Heritage Park apartments until her health forced her to enter Clearview Nursing Home in December 1986.

Tommie and Olive were fortunate to have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Her daughter, Elaine, married Chester ALLEN in Wolf Point, Montana on October 12, 1946. Olive was blessed with four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Olive's husband Tommie; two brothers, Friend and Howard RUSH, and a grandson, Tommie ALLEN, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Elaine; son-in-law, Chester; three grandchildren, Sondra STONE and family and David ALLEN and family of Wolf Point and Mary BLACk and family of Sacramento, Calif.; one niece, Donella SCOTT of Tampa, Florida; one sister-in-law, Stella RUSH of Mount Ayr; four great-nieces, several cousins and a host of friends.

She loved to crochet, play cards and especially loved to visit with her many friends. She will be missed.

Funeral services were held May 27, 1987 from the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa, conducted by Rev. Douglas HARDING. Music was provided by Mrs. Weldon MEADOWS and Richard JACKSON.

Casketbearers were Leland DUFTY, Raymond GREEN, Barry JACKSON, Charles FIFER, Gilmore BARBOUR and Chester GIBSON.

Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
