AFTON - Della Mae HENRY, 88, 310 S.E. Grant, Ankeny, formerly of Afton, died Sunday evening, July 3, 1988, at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Stroud-Lindsay Golden Rule Funderal Home, Afton. The Rev. Eydie STEPHENS will officiate with burial in the Oakland Cemetery, Shannon City. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Wednesday with a family night from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church, Shannon City.
Mrs. HENRY was born Oct. 29, 1899, near Maywood, Neb., to Will R. and Jennie L. (HITCHCOCK) McPHERREN. She married Alfred HENRY June 10, 1920 in Nelson, Neb., and he died Sept. 24, 1973. As a young woman she lived in Nelson, Neb., moved to Shannon City area after her marriage. She continued to live in the Shannon City area until moving to Ankeny in 1983. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Shannon City United Methodist Church, charter member of Shannon City Legion, South Valley Quilters Club, and Sod House Society of Nebraska.
Surviviors include two sons, John (wife Shirley) of Creston, and Richard D. (wife Darlene) HENRY of Ankeny; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, son, Howard HENRY [1927-1977], an infant son [Ronald Neal, 1939-1939] and daughter [Halcyon Louise, 1923-1923], and three brothers.
