OBITUARY - BLAINE SCOTT

Blaine SCOTT, 81, of Kellerton died August 4, 2008, at Decatur County Hospital in Leon.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 7, at Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., Mount Ayr. The Rev. Kathy JOHNSTON will officiate. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Row Cemetery in Kellerton 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8. Memorials are to be established in his name. Blaine SCOTT, son of Daisy (ROACH) and Charles SCOTT, was born Sept. 3, 1926, in Worth County, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On March 26, 1947, he married Bonnie L. SHACKLETON in Troy, Kansas.

Blaine was a farmer, operated a repair shop in Kellerton and worked at the Lamoni rest area.

Survivors include his wife Bonnie SCOTT of Kellerton; daughters, Ronda (husband John) BROWN and Becky (husband Tom) GILES, all of Kellerton, 16 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

Blaine was preceded in death by his son Richard SCOTT; brother Lester SCOTT and sisters, Cora HAMBLIN, Elsie MAUDLIN, Tanzy THURMAN and Peggy SCOTT in infancy.

Blaine SCOTT, son of Charles and Daisy (ROACH) SCOTT, was born on September 3, 1926 in Worth County, MO. He passed away at the Decatur County Hospital in Leon on August 4, 2008 at the age of 81 years.

Blaine served in the United States Army and when he returned home, he met the love of his life and partner for 61 years. Blaine was united in marriage to Bonnie L. SHACKLETON in Troy, KS on March 26, 1947. To this union were born three children; Richard, Ronda, and Becky.

Blaine and Bonnie ran their dairy farm for many years before moving to Kellerton, IA where Blaine opened a repair shop. Blaine also worked at the Lamoni rest area. Blaine’s many joys included his family, flea markets, and his jumping mules.

Preceding him death were his son Richard; parents Charles & Daisy SCOTT; brother Lester SCOTT; sisters Cora HAMBLIN, Elsie MAUDLIN, Tanzy THURMAN, and Peggy SCOTT in infancy.

He is survived by his loving wife Bonnie of Kellerton; two daughters Ronda BROWN & husband John of Kellerton and Becky GILES & husband Tom of Kellerton; 16 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He will be sadly missed by his family and friends but all will cherish their great memories of him.

The burial will be at 11:00 am Fridat in Maple Row Cemetery [Kellerton, Ringgold County, Iowa].
