OBITUARY.

Hannah SAMS was born September 3, 1818, was married to Henry SAMS, January 8, 1836, joined the Missionary Baptist church about 1842, of which she was a faithful member until death and we hope is now wearing her crown of life. She was the mother of 11 children of whom 7 are dead. Two of her sons died in the army, for the old stars and stripes, which the aged mother talked much about. Her husband died 28 years ago the 12th of this month. She leaves 3 sons and one daughter to mourn their loss. She died at their home after a long spell of sickness which she bore like a soldier of Jesus. Her funeral sermon was preached at the Benton church by Rev. H. THORPE and her body was laid to rest in the Shay cemetery [Platte River Cemetery near Maloy, Ringgold County, Iowa]. --H. THORP
