OBITUARY - SIMON SALTZMAN.

Simon SALTZMAN, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas SALTZMAN, was born in Poe township, Ringgold county, Iowa, January 2, 1865.

He spent his entire life on the farm in the township in which he was born, and where he was loved and respected by those who knew him.

Mr. SALTZMAN was a man who worked hard to provide for his lovedonew, and devoted his entire life to their care and comfort.

He was united in marriage with Anna JONES, December 31, 1890. To this union were born four children - one girl, and three boys, Lena and Clyde (deceased), Cecil and Andrew.

He professed faith in Christ and was baptized into the fellowship of the Oakland Baptist church in 1903. This church later united with the First Baptist church of Mount Ayr, Iowa, to which his membership was transferred and remained until the Good Lord saw fit to call him home.

He was taken ill May 24, 1930, after which he partially recovered, at least he resumed his earthly duties, but was unable to continue his labors.

He gradually grew weaker, but endured his suffering with patience. On July 7, 1930, he was taken to the Methodist hospital in Des Moines where he underwent an operation July 28th, from which he never fully recovered.

Although he really expected to overcome the attack, yet he expressed his hope to the Cahplin of the hospital, that if the Lord should call him he was ready to go.

He was fully resigned to the Lord's will, and when the end came at 10:45 a. m. July 31, 1930, he quietly fell asleep without a struggle.

The one daughter, Mrs. Lena ANDERSON, and Clyde having preceded him in death, he is survived by a loving companion, two sons: Cecil of Mount Ayr, Iowa, and Andrew of Lamoni, Iowa; seven grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church in Mount Ayr Saturday afternoon, August 2, at two o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. C. J. HAMILTON. Interment was made in the Oakland (a.k.a. Saltzman) cemetery.

NOTE: Anna (JONES), wife of Simon SALTZMAN, was born April 15, 1871, and died July 7, 1950. Lena (SALTZMAN) ANDERSON was born on October 25, 1891, and died April 29, 1921 with interment at Oakland (a.k.a. Saltzman) Cemetery, Ringgold County, Iowa.
