OBITUARY - DONALD RASMUSSEN

Donald RASMUSSEN, 86, of Creston died February 26, 2007, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 1, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston. The Rev. Leonard KENKEL will officiate the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with military honors by VFW Theodore J. Martens Post No. 1797. Open visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with the family receiving friends 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 7 p.m. rosary and Christian wake service at Coen-Beaty-Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Donald RASMUSSEN, son of Elsie Pearl (COLLIER) and Axel Marinus RASMUSSEN, was born July 30, 1920, near Beaconsfield in Ringgold County. He graduated from Creston High School in 1938. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from June 1942 to October 1945.

On October 9, 1948, Donald married Kathryn Vivian WEBER in Omaha, Neb. He lived in Union County and Creston most of his life. He began working for the Burlington Northern Railroad July 5, 1941 and retired as a conductor July 30, 1982. He was a member of American Legion, VFW Post No. 1797 and the First Christian Church, all in Creston.

Survivors include his wife, Kathryn RASMUSSEN of Creston; two daughters, Donna (husband Dick) CRAYNE of Waverly and Debbie FELDHACKER (friend Marty WILLIAMS) of Creston; six grandchildren, Heather ROGERS, Clint VEATCH, Robyn WOODS, Ryan FELDHACKER, Alicia LOVELL and Abby FELDHACKER; five great-grandchildren, Madison and Clinton Jackson VEATCH, and Isaiah, Jeremiah and Gabriel LOVELL; several cousins and other relatives.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
