OBITUARY - HELEN M. (ASHENHURST) JONES

June 7, 1907 - September 23, 2006

Memorial services for former Lingle resident Helen M. JONES, 99, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, at Community Presbyterian Church in Lingle, with Rev. Curtis HILL officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Helen passed away September 23, 2006, and she was cremated at her request.

She was born on June 7, 1907, in Tingley, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (SHEPARD) ASHENSHURST. At an early age she moved with her parents to Torrington [WY]. She later married Allen JONES, and the couple moved to Lingle [WY]. Four daughters were born to this union.

Helen was a 50-year member of Eastern Star, where she was very active and served as past Matron. She also served as past Guardian of Job's Daughters and was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church at Lingle.

She is survived by her daughters and their families, Marian and Paul HINDS of Steilcom, Wash., Rosemary and Pat HUFFMAN of Kennewick, Wash., Barbara HORT of Lyman, Neb., and Kaye and Verle ELLIS of Cheyenne; a sister, Ila FOWLER of Coronado, Calif.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister, Lena HENDERSON.
