OBITUARY - DORIS I. (DOTY) GILREATH

December 09, 1907 - September 11, 2002

Funeral services for Doris I. GILREATH (nee DOTY), 95, of the Wyndemere Retirement Center in Wheaton [IL] since 1993, formerly of Burlington, Iowa, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at First United Methodist Church, 421 Washington St., Burlington. There will be no visitation. The Rev. Dennis TEVIS will officiate.

Born June 9, 1909 in Keswick, Iowa, she died Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at Wynscape Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wheaton. Interment will be private for the family in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington.

On March 10, 1928, she married Bernard C. GILREATH in Leon [Decatur County, Iowa].

A homemaker, Mrs. GILREATH's interests were centered around her family and music. She spent all of her growing years in Beaconsfield, Iowa. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Burlington, where she sang in the choir, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Doris was a descendant of Edward DOTY, who came on the Mayflower in 1620.

Surviving are her daughters, Patricia JOHANSEN of Glen Ellyn [IL], Dorothy FRY of Burlington [IA] and Carol (Rod) WHITE of Littleton, Colo.; 10 cherished grandchildren; 16 cherished great-grandchildren; and several nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard C. GILREATH; her parents, William V. and Bertha (REASONER) DOTY; two brothers; and a sister.

Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 421 Washington St., Burlington, IA 52601. Arrangements were made by The Leonard Memorial Home, Ltd., of Glen Ellyn.
