OBITUARY - MRS. JACOB WHISTLER.
Catherine (SAHA) WHISTLER, daughter of Jacob and Olive SAHA, was born February 22, 1852, in Louisa county, Iowa, and passed away at her home in Kellerton, Iowa, May 21, 1930, at the age of 78 years, two months and 29 days. On January 1, 1871, she was united in marriage to Jacob WHISTLER. To this union seven children were born, three girls and four boys, three of whom died in infancy, Edward and Etta and Letta, who were twins. Those living are William and David and Mrs. Minnie MYCHOFF, of Kellerton, and Arthur, of Laramie, Wyo.
In 1888 they moved to Ringgold county where they have since resided. During her early life she was converted and joined the church of God, later moving her membership to the Salem Evangelical church where it remained until her death. She has been a patient sufferer for several years, but has been able to be about light household duties until a few weeks ago, when she took to her bed, which she was not able to leave until relieved by the death angel.
She leaves to mourn, her aged husband, four children, one sister Maggie, who has made her home with her for several years, one brother David SAHA, of Brookings, S.D., four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. E. CLARK, and interment made in Maple Row cemetery [Kellerton].
NOTE: Twins Etta and Letta WHISTLER were born on March 10, 1893, and died on March 19, 1893 with interment at Tedrow Cemetery near Kellerton, Ringgold County, Iowa. Catherine's sister Margaret "Maggie" SAHA was born in 1847, and died in 1931 with interment at Maple Row Cemetery, Kellerton.
