The Mount Ayr Record-News, 1931

OBITUARY - JAMES WARRICK.

James WARRICK was born in County Antrim, North Ireland, on June 5, 1860, and died at his home near Mount Ayr on November 29, 1931, at the age of 71 years, five months and 24 days.

He united with the Covenanter church in Ireland at about 16 years of age. With his borther Francis he came to America late in March, 1882, and at once took up his abode at Mount Ayr. He lived in Ringgold county ever since his arrival, with the exception of two years during which he was in Mills county.

Soon after his coming he presented his certificate of church standing from the Covenanter church of Ireland, and became a member of the United Presbyterian church of Mount Ayr, then under the pastoral oversight of Reverend J. H. TEDFORD.

On March 19, 1889, James WARRICK and Aggie FIFE were united in marriage. To this union was born one daughter, May Elizabeth, now Mrs. Vernon DRAKE.

There remains to mourn his passing his wife; his daughter, Mrs. DRAKE, with her husband and their children, Florence, Helen and Glenn; his brother Frances and his wife and their children and grandchildren; his one sister in Ireland; many nephews and nieces in Ireland; his brother-in-law, Mr. Pressly FIFE, who was close to him as a brother; and a great number of neighbors and friends, who along with those more nearly connected, will keenly feel his loss.

Mr. WARRICK's parents and three brothers preceded him in death, all these in Ireland.

A word of high appreciation is lue the memory of a man who was greatly respected by all his acquaintances and much beloved by those who knew him best. As man, as citizen, as church member, as friend and neighbor, and above all as husband and father and brother, he exemplified in high degree the character of the Christ whose he was and whom he served.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the United Presbyterian church, being conducted by the pastor, Dr. Jesse JOHNSON, and burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery.

NOTE: Agnes F. "Aggie" (FIFE) WARRICK was born in 1856, and died in 1939 with interment beside her husband James at Oak Ridge Cemetery near Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa.

May Elizabeth (WARRICK) DRAKE, wife of J. Vernon (1893-1978), was born in 1894, and died in 1982 with interment beside her husband at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Ringgold County, Iowa.
