OBITUARY - NATHANIEL WARDRIP.
Nathaniel WARDRIP, son of Nathaniel, Sr., and Mary (LOGSTON) WARDRIP, was born in Harrison county, Mo., May 8th, 1858, and passed away near Mount Ayr, Iowa, August 30, 1931, at the age of 73 years, three months and 22 days. He had been in failing health for several years and often had expressed his faith in the blessed Savior, and his willingness to meet his loved ones who had gone on before.
At the age of 19 years he confessed his faith in Christ and united with the Baptist church near Blythedale, Mo., where he spent nearly 50 years of his life. In February, 1909, he moved with his family to Ringgold county, Iowa, where he spent the remainder of his life with the exception of three months he spent in Portland, Ore.
After moving to Iowa he transferred his membership to the Caledonia M. E. church,where he attended services as long as possible for him to do so. He was the father of six children and three step- children. He was united in marriage to Rebecca DESKINS, of Blythedale, Mo., November 3, 1887. To this unon were born three children - Charles WARDRIP of Bedford, Iowa, Clarence WARDRIP of Redding, Iowa, and Henry, who preceded him in death January 4, 1918. His wife passed away May 20, 1895.
He was again united in marriage to Mrs. Sarah STAGNER October 22, 1896. To this unon were born three children - W. H. WARDRIP of Portland, Ore., T. E. WARDRIP of Roseburg, Ore., and Mrs. Ray MARSH of Mount Ayr, Iowa, who with the step-children, Claud M. STAGNER of Kellerton, Iowa, Mrs. Mae GOLDSBERRY of Mount Ayr, Iowa, and Stiles STAGNER of Cowallis, Ore. mourn the loss of a father. He also leave (sic) 19 grandchildren and two brothers - Joseph WARDRIP of St. Joseph, Mo., and Dodson WARDRIP of Mount Ayr, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Marton FITZGERALD of Eagleville, Mo., and Mrs. Eunice HOPKINS of Clayton, N.M. One brother and one sister having preceded him in death.
Funeral services was held at Blythedale, Mo., at 2:30 p. m. August 31, conducted by Rev. MENOHER. Interment in Cedar Hill cemetery [Blythedale, Harrison County, Missouri].

NOTE: Nathaniel's first wife Rebecca (DESKINS) WARDRIP was born in 1870, and died at the age of 25 years, 11 months and 19 days on May 20, 1895 with interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
