OBITUARY - HOMER RAYMOND WALTER

Homer Raymond "Ray" WALTER, 76, of St. Augustine passed away Feb. 14 at home with his family by his side.

He was born in Mount Ayr, Iowa, and had resided in St. Augustine for the past 24 years. He was a general contractor for 53 years after serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church, serving as a trustee as well as volunteering in other capacities. Another organization that Ray was committed to was Habitat for Humanity and he participated in serial building projects.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Walter of St. Augustine; son, Tony WALTER, of St. Augustine; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Mike TUCKERMAN of Tallahassee; three granddaughters, Chelsey WALTER, St. Augustine, Bailey WALTER, Parkville, Mo., and Jenna TUCKERMAN, Tallahassee; and a brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Jeanne WALTER, of Orlando.

A memorial service will be held at Memorial Presbyterian Church in St. Augustine on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 3:30 p.m. There will be a reception following in the Fellowship Hall.

The family suggest that memorials be made to Community Hospice of NE Florida, 4114 Sunbeam Rd. St 101, Jacksonville, FL 32257 or Habitat for Humanity, 7 Hopkins St, St. Augustine, FL 32084.

OBITUARY - HOMER RAYMOND "RAY" WALTER

Homer Raymond "Ray" WALTER, 76, of Elkton, died Thursday, February 14, 2008, at home.

He was a native of Mount Ayr, Iowa, and a longtime resident of Farragut, Iowa. He lived in Elkton [FL] for the past 24 years.

He was a retired general contractor and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He attended Memorial Presbyterian Church and was a longtime volunteer for Habitat for Humanity.

Memorial Service: 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Presbyterian Church, St. Augustine, with a reception to follow in the fellowship hall.

Survivors: his wife, Joyce WALTER, of St. Augustine; son Tony WALTER of St. Augustine; daughter Jan TUCKERMAN of Tallahassee; brother, Ron WALTER of Orlando; and 3 granddaughters.

Memorial Contributions may be made to either Community Hospice of NE Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Rd. Jacksonville, FL 32257, or Habitat for Humanity, 7 Hopkins Street, St. Augustine, FL 32084.
