ACCIDENTALLY KILLED.

Peter VIN, a young man about twenty years of age, living in the east part of the county, met death in a painful way while out hunting on Sunday, December 18th. He raised the gun and fired at a fleeing rabbit, but the heavy load caused the gun to burst and a portion of the stock struck him in the temple with results that proved fatal. He was carried home in an unconscious condition and medical aid was summoned immediately but he was beyond all hope of recovery. He lived until Christmas day and died that evening. The funeral occurred on Monday and he was buried at Decatur City [Decatur City Cemetery, Decatur County, Iowa].
