OBITUARY - MARY LAVERNE (SMITH) CANFIELD ZIMMERMAN

Mary Laverne CANFIELD ZIMMERMAN, 97 passed away Monday November 13, 2006 at the St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage, MO.

She was born September 9, 1909 in St. Joseph, MO the daughter of Martin SMITH and Lillie Belle (ELLARS) SMITH. Her parents preceded her in death.

She married George CANFIELD on February 13, 1934 he preceded her in death on September 9, 1955 at which time she moved to Carthage. She married Dean ZIMMERMAN on December 31, 1981 the couple moved to Nevada, MO. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1987 at which time she returned to Carthage. Three brothers, Lawrence SMITH, Luther SMITH, Chancey SMITH, and one sister Daisy Marie TULLER also preceded her in death. She had no children of her own, but helped to raise her sister Daisy’s children. A nephew, Ron TULLER and his wife Rayma, nieces, Eva McDOWELL, May ROBERTS, a great nephew Matthew TULLER and a great niece, Christina WELLS all of Carthage, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends survive her.

She was the head cook for Fair Acres Rest home for many years. She was also the owner/operator of the What Not Cafe. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. Funeral services will be held Sunday November 19, 2006 at 1:30 PM at the Knell Mortuary Chapel.

Interment will be Monday November 20, 2006 at 1:00 PM at the Maple Row Cemetery, Kellerton, IA. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in care of the Knell Mortuary.
