OBITUARY.

J. Milborn RUBY was born in Washington township, Ringgold county, Ia., August 11, 1856. Died October 30, 1897. Aged 41 years, 2 month, 19 days. Mr. RUBY was married to Mary STAHL, daughter of Henry STAHL late of Knowlton, Iowa, in 1884. To them were born six children, three of whom are dead and three, with the wife and mother, are left to mourn his death. Mr. RUBY has lived all his life except one year in Ringgold county. On September 8, 1896 he started for Kansas thereby hoping to better the health of his wife. She received no benefit from the change and on October 2, 1897 they returned to their former home in Knowlton. He was not well when they returned but continued doing business until October 25 when he was stricken down and kept sinking until 5 o'clock Saturday evening, October 30, when death came and claimed its victory. But few men were better known and none more respected, in all these parts, than J. M. RUBY. Honest, cheerful, truthful, industrious, and religious. He had been for many years an acceptable and worthy member of the M. E. church. The funeral services were very largely attended on Sabbath, October 31, conducted by his pastor, Rev. B. F. MILLER, assisted by Revs. HEATON and JARVIS. Interment took place at the Knowlton [Centenary] cemetery.

NOTE: Mary E. (STAHL), wife of J. Milborn RUBY, was born in 1850, and died April 8, 1919 with interment at Centenary Cemetery near Knowlton, Ringgold County, Iowa.
