OBITUARY - MRS. W. S. ROGERS.

Funeral services for Mrs. W. S. ROGERS, who passed away at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines early Friday morning, were held Sunday afternoon at the Church of Christ, being conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. Harold SMITH, and interment was in Rose Hill cemetery. The large attendance at the service and the many beautiful floral tributes bore silent testimony to the high regard in which the departed was held. Members of the Rebekah lodge attended in a body and the ritualistic service of the order was conducted.

Announcement of the death of Mrs. ROGERS, received Friday morning, came as a sad blow to the community. One week previously, accompanied by her daughter Laura and son Clarence, she went to the hospital for treatment. After a few days' observation and treatment, it was found that the only hope of relief was in a surgical operation and other members of the family were called to Des Moines. The operation was performed Wednesday. The patient rallied from the operation, but later suffered a relapse and gradually grew weaker until the end.

Blanche Ota WILSON was born near Blockton, Iowa, January 8, 1874, and died at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, Friday morning, August 7, 1931, at the age of 57 years, 6 months and 29 days. The early years of her life were spent on the farm near Blockton and when she was 14 years of age, in the year 1888, the family moved to Mount Ayr. She attended the Mount Ayr school; later attended normal, was granted a teacher's certificate and for four years was a successful teacher in the rural schools of Ringgold county.

On January 8, 1896, she was united in marriage with William S. Rogers at Afton, Iowa, and the home was established on a farm near Clearfield. Here she resided for a number of years, later moved to the Ellston vicinity, where the home was maintained until nine years ago, when with her husband and children she returned to the old home in Mount Ayr.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband and four children - Gar, Laura and Olyn of Mount Ayr and Clarence M. of Estherville, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Ora WILSON of Alma, Mont., and many other relatives and friends who loved her for her true christian character.

Mrs. ROGERS was ever active in church work and in the fraternal orders with which she was affiliated. Early in life she made the good confession at Brush College school house near Blockton and her life was devoted to service of the Master. She was active in the various departments of church work and was serving as treasurer of the Ladies' Aid society at the time of her death. She was a member of the Rebeckah lodge and of the Royal Neighbors, in which organizations she rendered faithful and efficient service, serving in various offices of both orders.

The death of Mrs. ROGERS marks the passing of a true christian mother whose life was devoted to service.
