OBITUARY - KATHRYN (O'GRADY) RICHARDS

Kathryn RICHARDS, 88, of Mount Ayr passed away September 29, 2008 at the Ringgold County Hospital.

Kathryn was born January 21, 1920, the daughter of Robert and Lucie (BALL) O'GRADY. She was raised on a farm one mile east and 1/2 mile north of Ellston, IA and was a 1937 graduate of Ellston High School.

On October 20, 1937, she married Frank RICHARDS. They resided in Tingley, Iowa where they raised their six children.

Kathryn was an excellant cook and always had food available for anyone who stopped by. She took great pride in her family, her home, and her flowers. Before she lost her eyesight, she enjoyed traveling, quilting, crocheting, sewing, ceramics, T-Club, Lion's Club, and volunteering with school activities, athletic events and banquets, the Tingley Community Building, and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She is survived by her six children, Donald RICHARDS & wife Betty of Des Moines; Joyce ANDERSON & husband Carnie of Shawnie, OK; Janet MAYER & husband John of Winterset, IA; Doyle RICHARDS & wife Connie of Tingley, IA; Dianne SCHUETTS & husband David of Sioux City, IA; and Debra BASTOW & husband Rodney of Mount Ayr, IA; 23 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers Paul, Herbert, and Ralph O'GRADY; and 1 sister Helen MARLER.

There will be a rosary recited at 6:30 pm Wed with a Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation, with the family present, will follow. A commital service is schedualed for the family on Thursday morning. Memorials are established in her name.
