OBITUARY - MRS. BETSY RICHARDS.

Betsy V. BAKER, daughter of Darin and Iva BAKER, was born January 25, 1860, near Barlo, Ohio, and passed away at her home in Tingley, Iowa, July 6, 1932 aged 72 years, five months and 14 days. She was united in marriage to Allen L. RICHARDS October 23, 1879, in Barlo, Ohio. To this union was born one child, Mrs. Iva (sic) COFFMAN. They came to Iowa in 1881, where they established their home on a farm near Tingley. Mrs. RICHARDS united with the M. E. church in childhood and always attended Sunday school and church services as long as her health permitted and was a faithful worker in the Sunday school up to her last illness, which dated from August, 1929. She was a loving mother, a kind and helpful neighbor and very patient during her long illness. She leaves to mourn her loss one daughter, Mrs. Iva (sic) COFFMAN of Tingley, and one granddaughter, Elsie Mae COFFMAN; two step-daughters, Mrs. Ruth GILLIS of Tingley and Mrs. Hattie CHRISTOPHER of Smith Center, Kan.; and two brothers, Joe BAKER of Kidder, Mo., and Ezra BAKER of Tingley. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the M. E. church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. E. I. BLEVINS, assisted by Rev. B. E. DOBBINS. A large congregation assembled to pay their respects to a lady whom all admired. Interment was made by the side of her husband in the Tingley cemetery. The pall bearers were all nephews, Earl, Eldon, Ernest and James RICHARDS, Henry BRECKENRIDGE and W. MEREDITH. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Rev. and Mrs. Warren MEREDITH and two sons, from Clarinda, Rev. and Mrs. William WARREN and three sons, of Adel, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. CHRISTOPHER of Marshalltown.

NOTE: Allen L. RICHARDS, husband of Betsy V. (BAKER), was born August 6, 1846, and died June 19, 1911. Ivah V. (RICHARDS) COFFMAN, daughter of Allen L. and Betsy V. (BAKER) RICHARDS, was born in 1900, and died in 1955 with interment at Tingley Cemetery.

Ruth L. (RICHARDS) GILLIS, daughter of Allen L. RICHARDS and step-daughter of Betsy V. (BAKER) RICHARDS, was born in 1870, and died in 1954 with interment at Tingley Cemetery. Eldon L. RICHARDS, nephew of Allen L. and Betsy V. (BAKER) RICHARDS, was born in 1884, and died in 1957 with interment at Tingley Cemetery.
