OBITUARY - REBECCA ELLIOTT

Rebecca OSBORNE was born February 22 1841 in Boone county, Indiana, and died November 25 1925 being 84 years, nine months and three days of age. She was married to Samuel H. ELLIOTT on July 4th 1860, and to this union were born six children - one son and five daughters: William H. ELLIOTT who died in childhood; Mrs. Susan E. BOYD of Cainsville, Mo; Mrs. Mary V. BOOTH of Pawnee, Okla.; Mrs. George A. MEADOWS of Chariton, Iowa; Mrs. Dove MOORE of Kellerton, Ia. and Mrs. Della BIRD of Tacoma, Wash., all of whom were here with her when death came.

She was raised to womanhood in Boone county, Indiana, and lived there after her marriage until they removed to Iowa. The state of Iowa has been her home for more than fifty-seven years and up until the death of her husband., in and about Leon. Since that time she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ed MOORE, near Kellerton.

All through her life she has been a noble christian character, a faithful and devoted wife and companion and a devoted and self- sacraficing mother. She has been a life member of the Christian church at Leon, Iowa.

The personal tribute of her children, of her friends and neighbors, far and wide, and of little children whom she loved, is the mark of highest honor and respect in which she was held. In her last illness and failing health she was so apologetic of any trouble she might cause, and her patience, the noblest virtue, adorned her wonderful life.

She leaves to mourn her death her five loving daughters, three sisters and two brothers - Mrs. Maria GRAY of Leon, Iowa, Mrs. Mollie LYTON, of Leon, Mrs. HARRIS of Indiana, Marion OSBORNE of Saline, Mo.; and _. A. OSBORNE of Leon, Ia. Also twenty-three grandchildren and fifty two great grandchildren, besides a host of admiring neighbors and friends.
