OBITUARY - SIMON EGLY

Simon EGLY, son of Christian and Catherine EGLEY, was born May [25?], 1879, near Kellerton, Iowa, and passed away at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, February 27, 1931, at the age of 51 years, nine months and 25 days.
He was united in marriage to Mrs. Bessie MARTIN September, 1918. To this union were born two children: Albert Clinton and Darrell True.

He united with the Evangelical church at Salem and was a faithful Christian during the remainder of his life. Sim was a highly respected citizen; he was of a cheerful disposition, always having a pleasant greeting for everyone.

He was the youngest child of a family of nine. His father, mother, three sisters, Mary, Lane, and Kate, and one brother Albert preceded him in death. Left to mourn his loss are his wife and two sons; one step-son, Hugh GRUBB, two brothers, John of Greeley, Colo., and William of Kellerton, Iowa; two sisters, Anna TICE and Lizzie, of Oral, S. D., and a host of relatives and friends.

The funeral was held Sunday, March 1st, from the home, in charge of the Evangelical pastor, Rev. Leslie V. McELENY. Interment was in the Egly [Merritt] cemetery. The large attendance at the funeral and many floral tributes bore silent testimony to the high regard in which the departed was held in the community where his life was spent.

Card of Thanks.
We wish to sincerely thank our many friends and relatives, who so kindly assisted us during the recent illness and death of our husband and father, Simon EGLEY(sic).
