OBITUARY - MRS. OLIVER J. DENNIS

Mary Ellen HOFFMAN, daughter of Absalom and Nancy HOFFMAN, was born February 29, 1856, at Clarkshill, Tippacanoe county, Indiana, and departed this life August 28, 1921, at her home in Mount Ayr, Iowa.

She was married to Oliver J. DENNIS January 6, 1887, at Woodbine, Iowa. To this union was born one son, Lester O. DENNIS.

All her married life has been spent in Iowa except two years in California. She united with the Methodist church at the age of 12 years and has since lived a consistent christian life. She attended church services regularly as long as health would permit.

She has been a patient sufferer for the past six years, tenderly cared for by her loved ones.

She leaves to mourn their loss her faithful husband, her son Lester O., and wife and granddaughter Ruth, of Mount Ayr; two brothers, W. W. HOFFMAN of Lafayette, Ind., and J. E. HOFFMAN, of Redmond, Wash. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and loved by all who knew her.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at Rhoades' Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. E. S. MENOHER. [Interment was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr, Iowa.]

NOTE: Oliver J. DENNIS, husband of Mary Ellen (HOFFMAN), was in 1860 and died in 1946 with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery. Leslie O. DENNIS was born in 1888 and died in 1957 with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
