OBITUARY - MABEL ALDAH COLE

Mabel Aldah COLE, daughter of George and Angie COLE, was born February 26, 1886, at Mount Ayr, Iowa, and departed this life April 3 at 2:30 a.m. at her home in Diagonal, Iowa, aged 46 years, one monh and eight days.

She was one of three children, being the only daughter.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, her father having passed away on April 14, 1907, and her brother Wilber December 5, 1915.

At the tender age of 12 years she gave her life to her Master and was ever ready and willing to work in his vineyard.

As her calling in life she chose to teach in our public schools in which she has proven herself an example of service and sacrifice, having taught 16 years in all, ten years of this period have been in Ringgold county, three years at Ackley, Iowa, two years at Bristow, Iowa, and one year at Fisk, Iowa. She was a graduate of Iowa State Teachers College, specializing in home economics.

Wherever she taught, she exemplified her Master's life by her kind words and deeds and always taught a Sunday school class along with her public school teaching.

Words cannot express the love and friendship that was hers because of her beautiful life. After rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, she lived her life well unto its close and the words of the Apostle Paul are a tribute to her life when he said: "I have fought the good fight; I have finished my course; I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me in that day, and not to me only but to all those that love His appearing."

She leaves to mourn her departure her mother, Mrs. Angie COLE of Diagonal, and one brother, Raymond Alonzo, of Sterling, Colo., and an innumerable number of relatives and friends.

She hath done what she could
as she journeyed through life
To make this world better and
free from all strife.
But now she is resting,
she has answered her call.
And her memory lives
in the lives of us all.

The funeral service, held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Christian church in Diagonal, was largely attended by neighbors and friends from the Diagonal and Mount Ayr communities, and floral tributes were profuse and beautiful. The service was conducted by Rev. Dennis DILLE, assisted by Rev. W. Harold SMITH of Mount Ayr. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery at Mount Ayr.
