OBITUARY - MARY (DOLBEE) CAVIN

Mrs. Mary CAVIN died at 12 o'clock Saturday, Oct. 19, 1895, at the home of John A. LESAN in Mt. Ayr. She had reached the ripe age of 81 years, 8 months and 1 day. Her maiden name was Mary DOLBEE, and her native state was New York. In July, 1832, she was married to H. M. IMUS. To them twelve children were born, of whom six survive, and are all well known and reside in the county. After the death of her first husband she was married March, 1856, to Wm. CAVIN. Their marriage was the third one performed in Ringgold county. To them was born one son who is still living. Before coming to Iowa in 1854 she had lived in Ohio, Michigan and Illinois. In 1879 Mr. and Mrs. CAVIN moved from their country home to Mt. Ayr where she lived until her death. Mr. CAVIN's death ocurred two years ago. Mrs. CAVIN's last illness was of two week's duration, and brought great suffering to her. She was converted in 1854, and first joined the Free Will Baptist church. In 1860 she united with the M. E. church, and remained a loyal and consistent member until death.

The funeral services were held in the M. E. church on Monday, Oct. 31, 1895, at 2 p.m. Rev. W. C. MARTIN led in the service, and the remains were laid in the Rose Hill cemetery. Mrs. CAVIN was (illegible) her home and motherly (illegible) and this endeared herself to her children, and served her generation.
